Our weekend

We had the school hamster stay with us again this weekend.  My kids always have a blast when she gets to come home with us.  My daughter is doing very well with taking care of her and having the responsibility of a pet………….until today.  Miss Pixie was quietly watching TV with the kids, sleeping snuggly in my daughters lap.  I left the room to come back and see my daugher looking behind the TV and speaker.  I asked her what she was doing and where was Pixie.  She had crawled into this hole………

We coaxed her out with a carrot and she was almost out, but then my son got excited and scared her and she went back in.  It was very sad.  My daughter was so devastated.  My heart broke for my little girl!  She is a tough cookie and doesn’t get upset often, but I knew she felt terrible about this. She was so sad and thought it was  her fault that Pixie was going to be lost forever!

 We tried the carrot again…….. We waited patiently with a little flashlight  to see if she would come out………..We tilted and tipped the speaker………..Finally Daddy got the screwdriver out and as he tipped and started to unscrew, I saw whiskers……..

I have a happy girl again and I didn’t have to go to the petstore and get another hamster for her class.  Believe me I was preparing my story!
